The Isle is the land bridge between Garuda and Vinyata, the only direct path between two of the largest nations on Tikor. That geography made it valuable. It also made it expendable.
The final battle of the Longest Night — the climax of the Day of Reckoning — was fought on Isle soil. Garuda and Vinyata fought each other, and the Isle paid the cost. Cities destroyed. Thousands dead. The people of the Isle came out of that war furious, and they were right to be.
So Hawken brokered the One Tikor Treaty in the year 2 A.R. The Isle’s sovereignty was restored, its borders made absolute, and large-scale warfare banned across Tikor. To this day, you cannot wear another nation’s colors inside Isle borders without being stopped.
The Isle is also home to stranger things: the Navy of Free Merchants, the yearly Summit of Kings where Jalens battle with words for the title of best Wordsmith on Tikor — and, every few centuries, the Magical Sanctum of Martalos, a ghost island that rises from the Bay of Martalos and sends Brood Eagles to invite candidates to a trial for a crown.
