The Divinity are the gods of the Karu, the largest and most political culture in Garuda. They are Ishvana’s chosen — a ruling pantheon whose court descends from Garuyda the Great Phoenix, the first of Ishvana’s children to be given a crown.
The Divinity are more formal than the enigmatic Pangool and more public than the nature-bound Vodun. Their temples are civic landmarks. Their priesthoods are political offices. Their festivals are state events. To be Karu is, by default, to be of the Divinity — and that means standing inside the machinery of the Ring of the Chosen, the governing council of Garuda that takes its authority directly from Garuyda’s flame.
The Divine Order of the Phoenix carries the pantheon’s will into the world as an order of knights and clerics, and the Celestial Shields of the Eternal Flame stand as its elite martial arm, guarding the Eternal Flame at Mount Olenga where Garuyda first descended.
